EGD Preparation Instructions
6 Hours Before Your Screening
You must not eat or drink at least 6 hours before the screening.
Day of your Screening
- Please bring a list of your medications.
- Bring your valid health card to the appointment
- Designated Driver on the Day of Your Exam: A responsible family member or friend MUST come with you to your EGD and REMAIN in the endoscopy area until you are discharged! You are NOT ALLOWED to drive for 24 hours, take a taxi or bus home by yourself, or leave the Endoscopy Centre ALONE. If you do not have a responsible driver (family member or friend) with you to take you home, your exam cannot be done with sedation and the screening will be cancelled.
